"Eight Solitudes" is a series of brief but very intense "cross-sections" of aloneness. Each movement captures a sensation, an impression, a single instant crystallized and examined. It does not answer a question solve a problem or make a "statement" - it just is. Like life, it is not tied up in easy packages but bleeds one into another - impassioned, vulnerable, complicated, unresolved and unfailingly human.
"Eight Solitudes" was the winner of the 2002 International Society of Bassists Solo Composition Competition.
