Performance Notes
Double Down is in three movements:
The first is a lyrical, large-scale arch, slowly but inevitably accumulating momentum, always singing in conception.
The second is an aggressive, energetic, headlong rush to the finish, always with a propulsive sense of pulse and groove.
The third returns to the slow lyricism of the first movement, before dissipating and fading into nothing.
The movements are to be played without interruption.
