It makes me smile to see all of our composers, dancers and choreographers happy and ready to create as part of our Composer/Choreographer Workshop. The energy, vision and dedication to collaboration and innovation in the face of difficulty is inspiring.

I'm so grateful to all of our wonderful artists for a great first week of The Next Festival of Emerging Artists 2020: Vijay Iyer, Fred Child, Wang Jie, Derek Bermel, S Ama Wray, Elaine Grogan Luttrull and Quarantine Concerts.
Week Two will be another great one, with Ashley Bathgate, JACK Quartet, Anne Leilehua Lanzilotti, Aaron Jay Kernis, Joshua Roman. Hope to see you then!

When I began The Next Festival of Emerging Artists

When I began The Next Festival of Emerging Artists in 2013, it was to empower young artists to find their voices, both artistic and personal, and to give them the tools to share their visions with the world.
Over the years, and in the last few weeks especially, I could not be prouder of our courageous students and alumni. The actions they are taking to make their voices heard, to affect change and to make the world a better place through their art, their activism and by who they are – these have given me hope and inspired me. We are in good hands.
It is in this spirit that I invite all to join us for our 2020 season, which begins today online, with events open to all for the next four weeks.
Listen, learn, share, grow, discuss, and find inspiration, community and purpose with our amazing Guest Artists and students.
